Nutrition Testing Services

Genetics Nutrition Testing and Nutrition Response TestingWe spend a great deal of time each year getting trained in cutting edge holistic care and functional medicine. What this means to you is that our primary focus is to return your body to a fully functioning, optimal health state. Just treating symptoms and “getting by” is not good enough for us. To achieve the level of results we are known for, we use many diagnostic tools including laboratory nutrition testing.

Currently, we test genes, blood, saliva, urine, stool, skin and hair as well as using physical diagnosis techniques that involve palpation, joint range of motion measurement, Applied Kinesiology, strength testing (testing individual muscles) and much more. We review tests and medical records from other providers to find the gaps in health care that have prevented you from achieving the level of success you are looking for. We like a challenge and our practice is built on it. We test hormones, minerals, toxic metals, immune function, thyroid and adrenal function, digestive function and more. We find and treat food allergies, parasites, yeast (Candida) and other hard-to-find infections.

Combining Oriental medicine, Western medicine and nutrition, we clearly see solutions that are missed when only seeing practitioners within one field. These tests regularly uncover hidden causes for poor health, and we treat them quickly and efficiently.

Applied Kinesiology/Muscle Testing

Health and nutrition are popular topics. Think about what you’ve heard or read lately- does any of it confuse you? New information and tips collide with each other and make it hard to decide which advice to take.

If you are currently experiencing ill health, especially a chronic problem, you may be frustrated or concerned with finding answers and solutions.

Is any of this familiar?

  • You may have health conditions that won’t go away, or you can’t seem to lose weight, no matter how well you eat.
  • You own a big box or bag full of supplements that haven’t worked or stopped working.
  • You’ve seen many doctors or even alternative practitioners, but have not found effective or lasting solutions.
  • Your career, finances, family and social life suffer because of your condition.
  • You suspect that you have not discovered the real cause of your condition and you won’t feel better until you do.

Consider that you are an individual and you need individual care to determine what’s right for you. There are two parts to the wellness services at Merritt Wellness Center, and they both assess you as an individual.

Muscle Testing is a non-invasive method of determining the underlying causes of your condition and it requires years of training. We are grateful to have two AK-trained practitioners out of the few in the Austin area!

Using feedback from your body, Applied Kinesiology reliably and consistently detects the source of your ill or non-optimum health and indicates nutritional deficiencies.

Designed Clinical Nutrition is your individual nutrition program, created for you according to your Applied Kinesiology results. You will take only the supplements that your body needs, in specific amounts determined just for you. You will take as few supplements as possible to restore your body to optimal health.

Genetic Nutrition Testing

Wouldn’t it be nice to know what YOUR genes specifically needed? If you didn’t detox well and needed more cruciferous vegetables? If YOU are someone for whom smoked meats might cause cancer? If you’re salt sensitive? If you have the MTHFR variation? (or another folate variation?) This genetic testing looks at genes specifically impacted by diet, nutrition, and exercise, and gives clear guidelines as to what is needed to optimize your genetic expression, for now, and in the future. No scary genes here! These are genes you can make a difference with NOW, improving your health from this point forward. Ask about this option at your visit or read more about it here.
